Sounds of water

Sounds of Water: Instruments United by the Sound of Rain, Waves and Streams

The sounds of nature - rain, waves, a flowing stream - have something special about them. They calm the mind, shift your focus, and effortlessly create a pleasant sonic atmosphere. That's exactly why we put together this collection: the instruments we call sounds of water - a group of percussion instruments whose voices echo water in all its forms. Close your eyes, and you might find yourself by the ocean, beside a forest stream, or standing in warm summer rain.

What's in This Collection?

The collection features four types of instruments:

  • Rainsticks - the classic choice, and the most widely recognised of the four. Simple to use and deeply relaxing.
  • Rain towers - a larger version of the rainstick. Even easier to play, but with a much longer lasting sound, can almost be called autonomous.
  • Ocean drums - produce a distinctive, wave-like roar that is unlike anything else.
  • Stream drums - the most subtle of the four, with a soft, flowing sound that trickles rather than crashes.

Who Are These Instruments For?

Music therapists and teachers - water sound instruments have long found a home in therapeutic practice. Their calming, repetitive quality helps redirect attention, eases anxiety, and works beautifully in group settings.

Beginners - no musical background required. A rainstick or ocean drum works on pure instinct - just move it and listen. It's one of the most accessible ways to begin your journey with musical instruments.

Hobbyists and those drawn to ethnic instruments - many of these instruments carry deep cultural roots and are crafted from natural materials: bamboo, wood, or even ceramic. They work just as well as decorative pieces as they do as instruments.

Try Before You Buy - Visit Us In Store

Water sound instruments are the kind of thing you want to feel and hear in person. A photo - or even a video - can't capture what it's like to tilt a rainstick yourself and listen to the granules cascade inside.

That's why we're proud to have a physical shop. Come in, try everything freely, get personal advice, and walk away with your instrument the very same day. No waiting, no guesswork - just the real sound.

So, Why Bother?

No complicated explanation needed. Sometimes you just want an instrument you can pick up and feel something from instantly. These instruments make that possible - no lessons, no sheet music, no experience required.
